We only had 7 of the 8 teams fishing tonight but on Eagle Lake the fewer boats the better since everyone fishes the same way out there. Everyone knows all the same stretches of docks too so it is interesting fishing. Even with so few boats though the weights were not very good at all. 1st place was 9.30 lbs and 2nd place was my dad and I with 9.29 lbs. 1/100th difference!!!. That hundredth ended up costing us 2 points and is going to make it very difficult to regain the team of the year lead with only 2 night remaining. 1st place team of the year now has 63 points and my dad and I have 59 points. It's not impossible to come back but we will probably need to win the next 2 nights or have the first place team stumble badly which is very unlikely the way they have been fishing. Otherwise there just aren't enough total points per night to make up much ground.
As is always the case on Eagle theres no secret about what we did to catch our fish. We skipped our Strike King Bleeding Bait tubes up under docks and trees. The key is to just keep working hard and knowing that you can still get bit even if 2 other boats have fished the docks before you have. The night started off pretty bad for us once again and we didn't have a fish in the boat until our 3rd stop. That fish was about a 3 pounder though so it was a good start. Then we tried to pull into the most popular spot on the lake but got cut off so we turned back around and went the other direction. It turned out to be good for us though since we caught our biggest fish of the night on one of those docks. Then we went up and fished near where last weeks winners fished and I caught another one about 3 lbs off a dock that had just been fished by another team. That was about it for our fish catches. We had a few other small ones but we just didn't catch very many fish at all. One funny part of the night was when we went back to the most popular area on the lake there were 5 of the 7 teams all on that one stretch. You'd think we could figure something else out but I guess not!
