West Central Fall Bass League - Nest Lake

The day after the MN BASS Federation TOC concluded was our first West Central Fall Bass League of the season. The rules of the fall league are basically the same as our nightly leagues throughout the summer but we fish for 5 hours and have a 5 fish limit instead of 3 hours and 3 fish. We will be holding these events every Saturday until it gets too cold to fish or no one wants to show up anymore. There were 10 teams fishing on Nest Lake despite the extremely windy conditions. The fish were mostly uncooperative though, but a few big bags were still brought in.

1st - Paul & Brian 18.86 lbs
2nd - Andy & Mike 16.29 lbs
3rd - Travis & Jason 15.81 lbs

Big Bass - Paul & Brian 5.19 lbs

There isn't a whole lot to say about our fishing for the day although it ended up being good enough to take 2nd place on the day. Most of our main smallmouth areas on Nest Lake ended up being out in the wind so we just had to suck it up and get out in the wind and fish as best we could. We bounced around to several spots throughout the 5 hour day and were able to pick up a fish here and there. We did end up catching several largemouth but ended up weighing 5 smallies that were all between 3-4 lbs. Our fish mostly bit on green pumpkin tubes and football jigs and came from rocky areas between 1-10 feet deep.
